Cloverfield 01-18-08 - what's it all about?

Well, unless you've had you head in the sand for the past few weeks you'll have probably seen or heard something about this film trailer (it also featured as a trailer before the "Transformers" film). It has now even poked it's head above the mainstream pulpit and made mainstream news both in the UK and the US.

In the above image of the Cloverfield Trailer page on Apple's website, see how cleverly the symbolism of the wreckage of the Twin Towers at ground zero after the collapse of the two buildings has been merged into the Statue of Liberty where the head has been ripped off, someone really thought about that...

I'm not a fan of the hype surrounding the Twin Towers, but there is no doubt in my mind that it was a cleverly orchestrated movie played out in front of millions of people all over the world. It's not that important who did it or who is responsible, the point is it was make believe, made to look real, just like the movies. Now can you see how difficult it is becoming to tell fact from fiction?

It's becoming easier for those who want to to create an Armageddon type scenario that appears to be real, but is in fact carefuly orchestrated to appear real. It is however becoming more difficult to do this well (as we have seen with the numerous clues from the Twin Towers collapse). The "Holywood" machine is doing a good job of diverting everyone from understanding what is really going on in the world today - it's a question of perception and how it can easily be shaped and molded.

There are plenty of sites out there that give a good description of what happens during the trailer, which is quite short, but you have to see it really, as any kind of textual description does not do it justice.


It's quite an interesting trailer, and from what is being banded about the internet now it is apparently about an alien force that attacks and flattens New York. So, i think we can safely say that it is a film version of New World Order flattening the Twin Towers. I find it mind boggling that millions of people will go and see this movie and have a real hoot and tell everyone how good it is, when the core concept of the film involves New York being blown away...and people just think it's make believe!


I suppose it's just a shame that we know so much about how these films are made now that the mystery is all gone - we just comment at how good the CGI was or how realistic the re-touching is - it's not so easy now to be enclosed in the film as an experience and really believe in it.

I for one won't be queing to see this film, I'll just wait till I can see the real thing on Sky News. Things seem to be building towards 2012..I don't think we can be shocked by much else these days.
