A while ago, a good old friend of mine named Steve Stone asked me to listen to some trance tunes he'd written - we got in touch again through 'flangebook' after a long time of not being in touch.

I went straight past the trance, and began listening to a track called "Wounded Heart", which it turns out, was penned after an emaotional break up. Quite a few days later, we are almost ready to bring this glorious song into the world, with a Dave Horne mix to boot...watch this space!

The other stand out tune is the David West "Hello Piano" track...oh, can't to hear this in a club..Loud!

My policy with music is that for something to be good for me, it has move me inside, it has to touch my emotions...all of the tunes in this mix do that..please enjoy...

OK people...not sure how many people check this blog out, but I am making some changes...

0845 service is a weird thing, since I found out that there is quite a lot of competition in the telecoms market for the 0845 service provider (as I found out on Google). It appears that in recent weeks there has been over 5,000 searches across Google, MSN and Yahoo, but i could not find anyone that used 0845 service as a key phrase!

Interesting stuff...let's see if I can get top spot in Google for "0845 service" then..

A while ago I looked into a way to design a photo book online. I had loads of digital photos that no-one ever saw and I wanted to create a photo book of those digital photos. I did a Google search on "design photo book online". Back then, there weren't that many good results. It's a bit different now. Just today I Googled "design photo book online" and I received quite a few good results. Try it your self, go to Google and do a search on "design photobook online".

Even better than that, is a new software app that will be appearing soon from a site called MyCreation.co.uk. It has not been launched yet but i have been lucky enough to work on the project, and it looks impressive! Watch this space.

Cloverfield 01-18-08 - what's it all about?

Well, unless you've had you head in the sand for the past few weeks you'll have probably seen or heard something about this film trailer (it also featured as a trailer before the "Transformers" film). It has now even poked it's head above the mainstream pulpit and made mainstream news both in the UK and the US.

If you have not seen or heard anything about it, take a trip over the Apple's site where there are Quicktime movies trailers that you can view online -http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/ (available at time of writing - circa August 2007)...here's a grab of the trailer site..

In the above image of the Cloverfield Trailer page on Apple's website, see how cleverly the symbolism of the wreckage of the Twin Towers at ground zero after the collapse of the two buildings has been merged into the Statue of Liberty where the head has been ripped off, someone really thought about that...

I'm not a fan of the hype surrounding the Twin Towers, but there is no doubt in my mind that it was a cleverly orchestrated movie played out in front of millions of people all over the world. It's not that important who did it or who is responsible, the point is it was make believe, made to look real, just like the movies. Now can you see how difficult it is becoming to tell fact from fiction?

It's becoming easier for those who want to to create an Armageddon type scenario that appears to be real, but is in fact carefuly orchestrated to appear real. It is however becoming more difficult to do this well (as we have seen with the numerous clues from the Twin Towers collapse). The "Holywood" machine is doing a good job of diverting everyone from understanding what is really going on in the world today - it's a question of perception and how it can easily be shaped and molded.

There are plenty of sites out there that give a good description of what happens during the trailer, which is quite short, but you have to see it really, as any kind of textual description does not do it justice.

It's quite an interesting trailer, and from what is being banded about the internet now it is apparently about an alien force that attacks and flattens New York. So, i think we can safely say that it is a film version of New World Order flattening the Twin Towers. I find it mind boggling that millions of people will go and see this movie and have a real hoot and tell everyone how good it is, when the core concept of the film involves New York being blown away...and people just think it's make believe!

I suppose it's just a shame that we know so much about how these films are made now that the mystery is all gone - we just comment at how good the CGI was or how realistic the re-touching is - it's not so easy now to be enclosed in the film as an experience and really believe in it.

I for one won't be queing to see this film, I'll just wait till I can see the real thing on Sky News. Things seem to be building towards 2012..I don't think we can be shocked by much else these days.

I was taking my daily walk at work today. It's not any kind of special walk - I take a route through some house and across a field, past a school and across some roads. Today, however seemed to be special. I began noticing things whilst walking that I have always seen and known yet for some reason they stood out and captured my attention.

When I analysed this, I realised that I was noticing things that I had come to like and enjoy over the years, and they are normal things as well, like freshly cut grass, wooden fences, washing lines, the distant bark of dogs, the chime of the ice cream van and so on.

I soon realised that these were the things of my every day life, the fabric of my existence...and then it hit me: one day all this will be gone - not from the world, but from me. One day I will be gone from here. This realisation hit me and I almost fell over!

It's probably true that the grass will still be cut, the wooden fence will still lean slightly, the washing line will still have faded plastic pegs on it and the dogs will be barking in the distance...the ice cream van may still be floating around too, but hopefully the chime will have changed (don't hold out much of that though). It's just that, they won't be those things in quite the same way as I know them - they won't be my life anymore..they'll just be.

I passed a Father with his young sun, who had just learned to ride a bike, and I then realised that some day my kids will be alive without me being around, they'll only have the memories of me, and at first that made me quite sad and lonely. But, after a while I realised that they are individuals, and they will have their own lives, and they will (I trust) be happy with what they are and what they've become. Maybe they'll do all the things I wish I could, maybe they'll do all things they wish the could do too...

What I've learned today is that what we do now is very precious, and the time we have with them now is priceless, so I live every day with them to the full. I want to build as many happy memories with them as humanly possible, so they have a deep resource to call upon should they need to...and maybe, just maybe, we'll take our memories with us for eternity...now there is a nice deep thought!

The remix is part of a competition being run by Kosheen's label but I'm already firing the MP3 out to all the usual suspects to see what they think!

2007, the year of the Remix

2007, in dance music terms is the year of the remix. There are shed loads of tunes being dug up from the vaults and re-released with a fat beat/electro beat/breakz (select appropriate mix type!).

Nothing is sacred! Actually, it shows that there is a lack of originality - there is a lack of really good music out there - so tunes of yesteryear are being rehashed/mashed up/remixed/re-released and then some. Is this a sign that the four to the floor format is worn out? I don't think so. I think it is most likely down to the fact that the technology is more accessible, and there people out there who can't really construct music, so they just rip someone elses idea and stick a 'fat electro beat' with it...job done

There are some good re-workings out there, but there are also some truly awful ones. Re-making a classic tune is not as easy as you might think! !
